1. Importing from Your Weekly Plan

You don’t need to manually type grocery items one by one:

  1. Open the Grocery screen.
  2. Tap Import from Meal Plan.
  3. Minthee inspects all planned dishes for the selected week and extracts every required ingredient.
  4. Duplicate ingredients (e.g. onions in two different dishes) are automatically combined so you see total requirements in one clean list.

2. In-Stock vs. Needed (Pantry Check)

Before heading out to the supermarket, do a quick pantry check:

  • Each grocery item shows a status pill: To Buy or In Stock.
  • Tap the pantry button on items you already have at home (e.g. salt, pepper, olive oil).
  • The list automatically filters down to show only what you actually need to purchase.

3. Adding One-Off Household Items

You can add non-recipe items just as easily:

  • Tap the Add Item bar at the top of the grocery screen.
  • Type items like Milk, Coffee beans, Paper towels, or Dish soap.
  • Specify a quantity or unit if helpful.

4. Shopping in the Supermarket

When you are at the store:

  • Tap the checkbox next to any item as you place it in your cart.
  • Checked items cross out and move to the completed section at the bottom.
  • You can filter the display to view only unchecked items for maximum focus.
  • When done shopping, tap the menu and choose Clear Purchased Items to keep the list ready for next week.

Shopping with a partner, family member, or roommate? Minthee makes it easy to divide and conquer the supermarket aisles together in real time:

  1. Tap the Share icon in the top toolbar of your Shopping List screen and choose Share Live Web Checklist (or Show QR Code).
  2. Minthee generates an interactive collaboration link: https://minthee.com/list/{token}.
  3. Send the link via WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, SMS, or have your partner scan the live QR code.
  • No App or Account Required: Your partner doesn’t need to install Minthee or sign in. Tapping the link opens a responsive, clean checklist directly in any mobile browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox).
  • Live Check-Off Updates: As one of you checks off tomatoes in the produce aisle, the item instantly crosses off on the other person’s screen in real time (<100ms). No manual refreshing needed!
  • Works with Minthee App Too: If your partner also uses Minthee, tapping the link opens the shared list natively inside the app with deep linking (minthee://list/{token}).
  • Private & Ephemeral: Live share links automatically expire after 48 hours. As the host, you can also tap Stop Sharing at any moment to immediately revoke public access.

6. Offline QR Codes & Plain Text Sharing

Shopping in a basement supermarket or location with zero cellular reception? Minthee has you covered with 100% offline sharing alternatives:

  • Offline Binary QR Code: Tap the Share icon in the top toolbar and choose Share as QR code. Minthee encodes your entire shopping list into a compressed offline QR code. Another phone can scan it with their camera or Minthee app to import the list with zero internet connection required.
  • Include Dish Names Toggle: When sharing via QR code, toggle Include dish names on or off. Choose whether to show which dish each ingredient belongs to (e.g. Lasagna: Ricotta) or keep pure ingredient names (Ricotta) for a unified checklist.
  • Share as Text: Generates a tidy, categorized plain-text checklist ready to paste into any messaging app or notes tool.
